Zhihua Ou

I earned my PhD in virology from the University of Hong Kong and joined BGI Research in 2018, where I worked on the genomics of HPV and later SARS-CoV-2. Currently, I serve as the group leader for the Spatiotemporal Omics Study of Infectious Diseases. My team focuses on elucidating the mechanisms of pathogen-host interactions using cutting-edge genomic and transcriptomic sequencing technologies. My research subjects include viruses such as SARS-CoV-2, JEV, and HBV, as well as fungi and parasites like Echinococcus multilocularis. I have published over 20 research articles in journals including Nature Communications, Advanced Science, Cellular & Molecular Immunology, Clinical and Translational Medicine, Genomics, and Journal of Virology. I also serve as the coordinator of the STOC Infection Working Group, aiming to unite multinational and multi-institutional expertise to promote collaborative research on the spatiotemporal omics of pathogenic diseases.
