Linqi Zhang

Professor Zhang, a tenured faculty member at Tsinghua Medicine, Tsinghua University, is a leading figure in HIV-1 research and emerging viral pathogens. He holds endowed c hairs and various directorships, including at the Comprehensive AIDS Research Center. With 35 years dedicated to HIV-1 pathogenesis and vaccine development, he has also expanded into research on SARS, MERS, and COVID-19. His team developed a groundbreaking antibody therapy approved in China, significantly reducing COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths. Prof. Zhang's education includes a degree from Edinburg h and an associate professorship at Rockefeller University. He is the Founding Director of the AIDS Research Center at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and has published over 200 influential articles. Recognized with awards like the National Outstanding Young Scientist Award and privileged Changjiang Professorship, he is highly cited in microbiology and immunology. He advises national and international bodies on infectious diseases and has been elected as a foreign fellow of the African Academy of Sciences.
